Thank you for inquiring about a permit to place a portable storage shed in your back yard.  This storage shed permit fee is $20.00 and permits a storage shed without submitting a site plan and design details if, and only if, ALL of the following conditions are met:

  1. The storage shed must not be larger than 160 SF.
  2. The maximum height is 11 feet.
  3. The roof eave cannot extend over the alley property line.
  4. There are no doors or windows within 5 feet of the alley.
  5. The roof eave cannot be within 2 feet of the side property line.
  6. The storage shed must be at least 10 feet from another structure.
  7. The storage shed must be at least 33 feet from a curb.
  8. There can be no other storage shed on the lot.
  9. There cannot be plumbing or heat in the building.
  10. The storage shed must be portable (skid mounted). 
  11. The storage shed is behind a house and used for normal miscellaneous residential usage.
  12. The storage shed shall be structurally sound and maintained.

NOTICE:  All sheds PLACED on easements must be REmoved by the owner upon request of any utility.

If your project does not comply with ALL of the above conditions, the project may still be possible, but you may need to apply for a building permit, which requires more detailed information and is more expensive.  Please submit the site plan and/or design drawings/building permit application for review and approval by the plans examiner.
