What is a City Clerk? The City Clerk is appointed by the Mayor and serves as administrative support to the Mayor, City Administrator and Council. The Clerk is responsible for all official city records and documents, manages the City Hall office, and also serves as the Civil Service Secretary/Examiner. The Clerk's department provides information services, public records documentation, prepares and distributes all official notices including Council meetings, agendas and minutes, schedules use of the City Hall meeting rooms, issues permits for: dog licensing, yard sales, park shelters, and parade/street use. The City Clerk is also the appointed Public Records Officer.
