City Administration -

Open to the public:   8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Mon - Fri, the City Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the following departments: Clerk’s, Finance, Planning/Building, and Public Works. Mr. Sheldon is the liaison for the Mayor and all of the Councilmembers. He is also the risk management officer, and receives all claims filed against the city. The City Administrator is the Human Resource Official and is responsible for the administration of the personnel policy and union contracts. Read more here!

Clerk's Dept. -

The City Clerk is appointed by the Mayor and serves as administrative support to the Mayor, City Administrator and Council. The Clerk is responsible for all official city records and documents, manages the City Hall office, and also serves as the Civil Service Secretary/Examiner. The Clerk's department provides information services, public records documentation, prepares and distributes all official notices including Council meetings, agendas and minutes, schedules use of the City Hall meeting rooms, issues permits for: dog licensing, yard sales, park shelters, and parade/street use. Finance Dept. -

Open to the public:   8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Mon - Fri, the Finance Department is responsible for providing financial information and technology services for the City.  Responsibilities include: all financial reporting, City budget preparation, budget controls and budget forecasting, cash flow, investment management, grant management, fixed asset management, debt management, risk management, accounts payable, payroll and related reporting, personnel benefits, auditing and internal controls procedures to provide safe keeping of all city assets.  Finance also does invoicing for miscellaneous fees, LID's, and special assessments; The Finance Department monitors and maintains the City’s computer network and equipment. Fire Services -

The City of Othello and Adams County Fire Protection District No. 5 successfully entered into an agreement in September 2001, whereby the Fire District provides: department services, fire protection, education, and inspections for the citizens of the City of Othello. The department is under the direction of the District Chief. The agreement is for a term of five years minimum and automatically renews unless terminated, with a two year prior written notice by either legislative body. Read more here!

Library Services -

The City of Othello entered into a contract with Mid Columbia Library District (MCL) in 1994. MCL operates a regional library system with well over 500,000 volumes of material available by access of computer and CD-ROM networks for the library patrons throughout the Columbia Basin. The Othello Branch has 35,000 volumes of material available for it's patrons, with access to the entire MCL catalog of materials. The contract includes a commitment from the City for an annual payment to MCL, and the city owns and operates the building. MCL provides for library materials, staff, programs and services. Recent upgrades include remodeling of the children's area, and the adult book sections, new carpeting, shelves and painting have been completed. Read more here!

Police Dept. -

"The mission of the Othello Police Department is to proactively build community partnerships, prevent crime and enforce the laws by delivering high quality, efficient and consistent professional police services to all business, residents and visitors." Read more here!

Public Works -

The City of Othello Public Works is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of all city properties, structures and infrastructures. Public Works encompasses four divisions, Water, Sewer, Streets and Parks. The Public Works Department includes Municipal Services Coordinator, Lead Field Maintenance Worker, Records Clerk and 7 full time employees. Read more here!
